March 24, 2014 - Who knew my trip to Thailand would start here? (Well, after 3 visits in February to the Mt Auburn Hospital Travel Clinic for an array of shots, including Japanese Encephalitis and a rabies series.) Because I will be there for so long, I had to get an extended tourist VISA. The consulate office in Boston is in the same building as one of Boston's most historic sites, The Union Oyster House restaurant. If you Google "Thai consulate Boston Union Oyster House" there are a number of links to interesting stories about how this came to be, the Boston Magazine profile being the most interesting. There's also an Australian piece that has a few more interesting tidbits.
